Becoming a personal shopper is one of the new ways to do something that you already know how to do and still make money at it. By becoming a Personal Shopper you will be helping two different types of people, either those that are too busy to shop for themselves or those that can’t because of a disability or time constraints. The business model most used is charging a percentage of what is bought or by the hour. This is why this is such a great idea for a home based business, flexibility.
If you are going to undertake this venture you should come prepared and present yourself and professional and competent. Be prepared to ask questions of your prospective client to get a feel for what they want and what their tastes are. It will help in the long run if you can set up a system that you can communicate back to them while you are shopping for them, such as a digital camera and an email account.
If you love shopping this could be an easy business to start small and grow. If you show your clients that not only do you have an eye for style but also the nose to find bargains you can go a long way in this business.
Another important aspect to look for is that although senior citizens may not be able to pay you the highest fee, they are most likely once they trust you be more reliable customers. You may become there main errand runner and this can be your foundation.

- A cell phone and a digital camera to transmit images of styles and colors to the client for consideration while you’re shopping for them.
- Business cards, ads in print and online, and a website to promote your services, basics for any home based business.
- A vehicle for running errands and delivery purposes, as well as proper insurance.
- Sensitivity to a client’s budget.
